Safeguarding Associate Field Manager

About the role

The Safeguarding Associate Field Manager works primarily in the field to prevent abuse, respond to safeguarding concerns, and ensure that all activities protect the dignity and rights of recipients. The role involves close collaboration with field staff, communities, and local leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Engage directly with communities, recipients, and staff to identify safeguarding risks and take early preventive action.
• Receive, document, and support responses to safeguarding concerns using survivor‑centred practice and established escalation pathways.
• Conduct investigations into recipient‑or field‑based safeguarding concerns as needed.
• Develop and maintain a network of safeguarding focal points to strengthen local risk identification.
• Contribute safeguarding expertise to planning, design, and delivery of safe, inclusive activities.
• Deliver ongoing safeguarding training and sensitisation sessions for staff and partners.
• Represent safeguarding needs in field operations and maintain trusted relationships with local leaders.
• Monitor safeguarding trends, prepare self‑assessments and routine reports, and address gaps in practice.

Required profile

• Professional fluency in English and Chichewa.
• 1‑2 years experience in safeguarding, protection, community development, social work, or related operational roles.
• Strong judgement and ability to act timely in sensitive safeguarding situations.
• Commitment to survivor‑centred practice, confidentiality, and ethical decision‑making.
• High organisation, reliability, and attention to detail in maintaining records.
• Ability to work independently in field settings and manage competing priorities.
