Assistant Security Officer (II)

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking an Assistant Security Officer (II) to support the Security Officer in delivering comprehensive security services across the campus. The role involves assisting with background checks, training, event security, and emergency management to ensure a safe environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in conducting background checks on university employees.
• Support training of security personnel and other staff on security rules and procedures.
• Help manage security for special and high‑profile university events as delegated.
• Provide advice to staff and students on security matters.
• Escort staff, students, and visitors when required.
• Participate in supervising outsourced security personnel.
• Investigate security incidents and prepare reports.
• Assist in emergency management and contingency planning.
• Monitor implementation of security policies, programs, and procedures.
• Conduct periodic and unscheduled patrols of university premises.

Required profile

• Malawi School Certificate of Education.
• Serving Police Officer status or a certificate in police studies.
