Research/Public Health Specialist – Climate‑Informed Supply Planning

About the role

Harley Reed is looking for a Research/Public Health Specialist to develop a climate‑informed methodology for procurement and supply planning of essential health commodities (malaria, nutrition, diarrhoeal disease and sexual and reproductive health) for the Ministry of Health in Malawi. The role involves fieldwork, stakeholder engagement and translating data into actionable guidance to strengthen health system resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a methodology that integrates climate data into health commodity forecasting.
• Conduct qualitative data collection, stakeholder consultations and analysis across districts.
• Produce reports and practical tools for the Ministry of Health and district teams.
• Collaborate with experts in health systems, supply chain and climate adaptation.
• Ensure gender, disability, child‑rights and vulnerable‑population considerations are embedded in all outputs.

Required profile

• Experience in qualitative data collection, stakeholder consultations, analysis and report writing.
• Background in public health, epidemiology, disease surveillance, nutrition, malaria, diarrhoeal disease or SRH.
• Familiarity with health systems, HMIS/DHIS2, LMIS or operational research.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills.
• Experience working in SADC countries or similar low‑resource/humanitarian contexts is a strong advantage.
