About the role
The Program Manager will lead Vital Strategies’ lead poisoning prevention efforts in Malawi, providing technical and programmatic support to strengthen health‑system capacity and oversee field research on blood‑lead surveillance.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and monitor blood‑lead surveillance systems in collaboration with environmental health scientists, epidemiologists and government partners.
- Build capacity of government and non‑government staff to deliver the lead poisoning prevention program.
- Develop and standardize surveillance frameworks, obtain ethical approvals and train field surveillance teams.
- Organise technical discussions, policy analyses and training sessions for health officials, frontline workers and journalists.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement with high‑level officials and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
Required profile
- Experience in public‑health program management, preferably in environmental health or lead exposure.
- Proven ability to work with government agencies and international partners.
- Strong background in epidemiology and health‑systems strengthening.
- Excellent communication and training skills for diverse stakeholder groups.
