Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer – Orchestra Instrumentation & Conducting

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking candidates for Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer positions in Orchestra Instrumentation & Conducting, covering woodwind, strings, brass, and percussion.

Key responsibilities

• Teach, set and mark examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in drama, theatre and music.
• Conceptualise and implement practical productions, projects and outreach programmes for students.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research and practical projects.
• Develop industry links locally and internationally for collaborations, research and exchange programmes.
• Produce peer‑reviewed scholarly publications and represent the department at regional and international events.
• Participate in interdisciplinary research groups and provide academic leadership.

Required profile

• PhD, MA or MMUS in Orchestra Studies, Music Technology or a related field.
• Record of peer‑reviewed journal articles, book chapters and professional experience as an orchestra musician or conductor.

Required skills

• Orchestra instrumentation (woodwind, strings, brass, percussion).
• Conducting techniques.
