Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager will lead the onboarding of new business, premium management, and operational reporting for Old Mutual in Africa. This role ensures regulatory compliance, strong internal controls, and high‑quality service delivery across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Provide oversight and leadership for multiple sections of the operations department.
• Support implementation of strategic business plans and day‑to‑day operations, including AML, annuities, and premium management.
• Monitor performance, analyse trends, and manage policy administration systems, liaising with system developers to resolve incidents.
• Drive projects focused on operational efficiency, system upgrades, and product/service development.
• Coordinate business unit meetings and ensure timely internal and external reporting.
• Enhance internal control systems and monitor service level agreements with third‑party providers.
• Maintain compliance with regulations, company policies, and risk‑management standards.
• Foster strong stakeholder relationships across the business.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, risk management, actuarial science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar operations or finance role.
• Professional qualification in finance, accounting or risk management.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
• Excellent time‑management, quality focus, and commitment to organisational goals.
