Nutrition Specialist – Fixed-Term (Lilongwe, Malawi)

About the role

Under the guidance of the Chief, Nutrition, the Nutrition Specialist will support the strengthening of Malawi’s national nutrition systems. The role focuses on improving multisectoral coordination, data systems, governance and evidence use to achieve better nutrition outcomes for children, adolescents and women.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate linkages across key sectors to drive integrated nutrition action and represent UNICEF priorities on coordination platforms.
• Support the digitalisation and improvement of nutrition information systems to enhance data quality, availability and use for decision‑making.
• Contribute to annual project assessments, monitoring processes and high‑quality programme reporting.
• Provide technical assistance to strengthen nutrition governance structures, policy alignment and the updating of guidelines and frameworks.
• Generate and manage nutrition evidence, documenting lessons learned and best practices to inform policy and programme improvements.

Required profile

• Dynamic and committed professional with experience in nutrition programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multisectoral coordination and governance initiatives.
• Experience in data management, evidence generation and knowledge dissemination.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to support policy and programme development.
