Mechanical Engineering Internship

About the role

The Civil & Commercial Space Division at Space Dynamics Laboratory is offering a fall‑2026 Mechanical Engineering Internship. Interns will work alongside professional engineers and scientists to design, analyze, fabricate, assemble and test hardware for space‑related programs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, analysis, fabrication, and assembly of prototype, engineering units, flight‑like hardware and ground support equipment.
• Prepare and present reports on work results.
• Support testing activities for hardware components.
• Create drawings, travelers, parts tracking documentation, and kitting packages.
• Develop test procedures and compile test reports.

Required profile

• Pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
• Successfully completed an engineering CAD course with a grade of B or better.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work independently after training and collaborate effectively in a team.
• Strong communication, self‑motivation, dependability and attention to detail.
• Hands‑on experience with basic tools.
• U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other U.S. person.
