About the role
The MEAL Specialist will lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) systems for World Vision’s Able to Thrive Project in Malawi. This role ensures high‑quality data collection, analysis and reporting, with a strong focus on disability inclusion and community‑based monitoring.
Key responsibilities
- Lead development and implementation of a comprehensive MEAL system for the project.
- Design consistent data collection tools, reporting templates and protocols.
- Conduct regular data quality assessments, audits and monitoring activities.
- Coordinate baseline, evaluation, LQAS and QRMs surveys and community reviews.
- Provide technical leadership in documentation, reporting and communication of best practices.
- Develop inclusive data collection methods (e.g., braille, sign‑language interpreters, easy‑read formats).
- Identify training needs, design and deliver capacity‑building plans for staff, volunteers and partners.
- Support project transition by transferring MEAL knowledge and ensuring smooth handover of data and records.
- Collaborate with humanitarian accountability teams to develop and implement accountability frameworks.
Required profile
- Proven experience in designing and managing MEAL systems within humanitarian or development programmes.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct surveys, data quality assessments and produce analytical reports.
- Experience working with disability‑inclusive data collection and community‑based monitoring.
- Strong capacity‑building and knowledge‑transfer skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including donors, partners and beneficiary communities.
