Laundry Assistant

About the role

The Laundry Assistant will support the daily operations of the laundry facility, ensuring that all garments and textiles are processed efficiently and to the highest standards of cleanliness. This position is based on‑site in Malawi and involves handling a variety of items, from clothing to larger fabrics such as duvets and curtains. The role involves handling a high volume of items while maintaining strict hygiene standards and collaborating with the laundry team.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, tag, wash, dry, and iron laundry using appropriate equipment and settings.
• Follow garment care labels to prevent damage or loss.
• Clean additional items such as duvets, curtains, carpets, and workwear when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the laundry area at all times.
• Adhere to laundry schedules, safety procedures, and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Report equipment faults, maintenance needs, and safety risks to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Matriculation (high school) qualification or relevant laundry experience.
• Previous experience in laundry or cleaning is advantageous.
• Honest, reliable, safety‑conscious and able to work shifts as required.
