Technical Advisor II – Child Protection & Systems Strengthening

About the role

The Technical Advisor II will act as the subject‑matter expert for child protection, care and development systems in Malawi. Leveraging specialized technical expertise, the Advisor will guide project implementation, strengthen national systems, and support capacity development to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice, guidance and leadership on child protection and care systems, ensuring alignment with evidence‑based standards and the country context.
• Assist government, civil‑society, faith‑based and community actors to develop, adapt and implement policies, regulations, standards, SOPs, tools and guidance at national and sub‑national levels.
• Strengthen capacity of project teams and partners through coaching, training, supportive supervision and technical troubleshooting.
• Coordinate integrated technical delivery across project areas, working closely with global technical counterparts, resource partners and MEAL teams.
• Support MEAL activities to capture technically relevant data, promote evidence use and facilitate adaptive learning.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in child protection, care and early childhood development systems.
• Experience working with government, NGOs and community stakeholders in a low‑resource setting.
• Proven ability to provide technical assistance, capacity building and supervision.
• Strong collaborative skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and partners.
