Finance Officer (Malawi Country Office)

About the role

The Finance Officer will support the monitoring, reporting and management of finances for Save the Children’s Malawi Country Office in Lilongwe. Working under the Finance Coordinator, the role ensures strong financial controls, donor compliance and efficient financial processes across the office.

Key responsibilities

• Process payments, programme advances and liquidations.
• Support treasury management and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with payroll processes.
• Manage fixed assets and facilitate internal and external audits.
• Strengthen internal controls and build financial management capacity of staff and partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or related discipline.
• Minimum three years’ experience in accounting, preferably in an NGO, corporate or audit environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial systems, internal controls and donor compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• Fluent written and verbal English.
