Engineering Manager

About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead all engineering and maintenance operations for the Protea Hotel by Marriott in Lilongwe. This full‑time, onsite position ensures the building, grounds, and physical plant operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the physical plant, including HVAC‑R, refrigeration, plumbing, water‑treatment, electrical, and fire‑safety systems.
• Develop and manage the engineering budget, capital‑expenditure projects, and preventative‑maintenance programs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, energy‑conservation initiatives, and asset‑protection strategies.
• Coordinate service contracts, supervise contractors, and monitor work‑order completion for quality and timeliness.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, grounds, and equipment to maintain high standards of guest satisfaction.
• Lead the emergency‑response team for facility‑related incidents.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years of engineering/maintenance experience, **or** a 2‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related field with 1 year of experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards.
