Infrastructure Manager – Malawi

About the role

The Infrastructure Manager will own the delivery of Splash’s school WASH infrastructure programme across Malawi. Based in Lilongwe with regular field travel to sites such as Blantyre, the role ensures safe, high‑quality water supply, sanitation and hand‑washing facilities that meet Splash standards, local regulations and project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end implementation of school WASH infrastructure, from design review through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate and supervise engineering consultants, contractors and government partners to ensure compliance with technical specifications and local regulations.
• Maintain strong relationships with ministries, local authorities, school administrators and community stakeholders.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines and quality standards, reporting progress to senior leadership.
• Conduct site visits, inspections and field travel to oversee construction activities and resolve issues on the ground.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing infrastructure projects, preferably in water, sanitation or hygiene (WASH) sectors.
• Experience working with NGOs, government agencies or international development partners.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly within Malawi and work on‑site.

Required skills

• Understanding of local construction regulations and safety requirements.
• Ability to review engineering designs and supervise construction activities.
