Driver/Clerk – East & Southern Africa Division (Lilongwe)

About the role

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is seeking a reliable Driver/Clerk for its East & Southern Africa Division based in Lilongwe, Malawi. The incumbent will provide safe transportation for staff, consultants and visitors while delivering clerical support to the office.

Key responsibilities

• Operate IFAD vehicles in accordance with local traffic laws and safety standards, ensuring punctual and secure travel for personnel.
• Maintain vehicle logs, perform routine checks, and carry out minor repairs or maintenance as needed.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, document handling, and basic office correspondence.
• Support security protocols by staying aware of potential risks and following IFAD’s security guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of progressive experience as a driver and in administrative duties.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Fluent English (excellent); additional language such as French, Arabic or Spanish is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and minor repairs.
• Defensive driving techniques and ability to operate in challenging road conditions.
