Procurement Manager – Malawi Activity

About the role

The Procurement Manager, reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, will lead the procurement function for the Malawi activity of Abt Global’s health project. The role supports malaria vector control and HIV/AIDS service delivery by ensuring timely and compliant acquisition of goods and services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the forecast and supply plan, procurement strategies, and maintain a procurement tracker for visibility.
• Draft, issue, and review RFQs, purchase orders, and local consultant agreements, and facilitate bid evaluation and procurement committee processes.
• Ensure compliance with Abt Global policies, USAID rules, and USG regulations, including FAR and procurement file audit readiness.
• Coordinate with finance, IT, and technical teams to integrate equipment procurements into project inventory and obtain necessary permits and customs clearances.
• Provide guidance and oversight to the procurement and office coordinator and conduct orientation for new staff on procurement procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field (or higher).
• Minimum five years of professional experience in procurement and logistics of commodities, preferably on USG‑funded programs.
• Strong knowledge of US Government procurement rules, including FAR.
• UNDP CIPS Level 3 certification or equivalent is desired.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
