Digital Repository Intern – University Library

About the role

The University Library’s Technical Section is seeking two interns to support the UNIMA Digital Repository. The role involves creating metadata and uploading theses and dissertations into the DSpace‑Chris system over a three‑month period.

Key responsibilities

• Review and create accurate metadata for each thesis and dissertation according to repository guidelines.
• Organise digital files, ensure correct naming and categorisation before upload.
• Upload prepared documents into the DSpace‑Chris repository, populating all required metadata fields.
• Conduct quality assurance checks to verify that uploaded materials meet standards.
• Provide weekly progress reports to the Technical Section Head.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma in Library and Information Science (computing qualification is an advantage).
• Basic knowledge of database management systems.
• Familiarity with digital repository software, preferably DSpace.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
