Consultant for CSE Situational Analysis and Manual Review in Malawi

About the role

UNFPA is seeking a national consultant to lead a situational analysis and technical review of existing Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) training manuals in Malawi. The consultant will revise the manuals to align with the International Technical and Programmatic Guidance on Out‑of‑School CSE and the Gender & Social Norms Toolkit, ensuring they are gender‑transformative, inclusive and practical for facilitators.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a situational analysis of current out‑of‑school CSE delivery in Malawi.
• Review existing CSE training manuals against ITPG and the Gender & Social Norms Toolkit.
• Revise manuals to integrate gender‑transformative approaches, address harmful norms and reflect the needs of diverse groups (AGYW, youth living with HIV, youth with disabilities).
• Incorporate emerging SRHR issues and promote agency, decision‑making and critical thinking among adolescents.
• Ensure revised manuals are user‑friendly for facilitators in real‑world settings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in CSE curriculum development or review, preferably in an African context.
• Strong understanding of gender‑transformative methodologies and SRHR.
• Experience working with UN agencies or international NGOs.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high‑quality outputs within agreed timelines.
