Chichewa/Nyanja Linguist & Transcriber (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking native Chichewa (Nyanja) speakers to join a remote team supporting a multilingual speech‑to‑text project. The engagement lasts 2–3 months, requiring 20–30 hours of work per week, and involves working with existing audio recordings to produce high‑quality transcripts.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and tag personal information (PII) in audio recordings.
• Transcribe Chichewa audio, correcting automatically generated drafts and preserving noises, cross‑talk, and other spoken nuances.
• Review completed transcripts for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to annotation guidelines, providing feedback on linguistic issues.

Required profile

• Native‑level proficiency in Chichewa (Nyanja) with strong listening skills.
• Prior experience in spoken language transcription or linguistic annotation (preferred).
• Access to good‑quality headphones and a quiet workspace.
• Availability for 20–30 hours per week over the 2–3 month project period.
