Technical Support Assistant – Renewable Energy & Agriculture

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Support Assistant to maintain and troubleshoot renewable energy, electrical and agricultural equipment across project sites in Lilongwe. The role combines hands‑on installation, preventive maintenance and training to ensure reliable operation of solar power systems, generators and irrigation technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical installation, wiring, testing and routine maintenance of equipment.
• Install, repair and maintain solar power components – panels, inverters, batteries and charge controllers.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on generators to guarantee uptime.
• Support installation, operation and upkeep of solar‑powered irrigation pumps and design irrigation layouts.
• Troubleshoot and maintain agro‑processing equipment such as solar dryers and groundnut shelling machines.
• Keep detailed service records, maintenance logs and inventory of spare parts.
• Provide technical training to local staff and community members on safe equipment use.
• Deliver technical support during field installations, commissioning and equipment upgrades.

Required profile

• Diploma, technical certificate or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electronics or a related field.
• 2‑3 years of experience in electrical installations, solar energy system deployment and generator maintenance.
• Proven experience troubleshooting agricultural processing equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety standards and reliable field work.
