Senior Technical Manager – ACHIEVE Malawi (District Oversight)

About the role

The Senior Technical Manager is the primary link between national project leadership and district implementation teams for the ACHIEVE Malawi initiative. This role ensures coordinated planning, performance management, quality assurance, and accountability across all supported districts, focusing on high‑quality MNCH, nutrition, and HIV services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in designing, coordinating, and supervising integrated MNCH/Nutrition/HIV service approaches.
• Lead and supervise District Managers to ensure effective program implementation and alignment with national policies and Ministry of Health standards.
• Translate project strategies into district‑level operational plans and monitor performance against targets.
• Conduct routine supportive supervision visits, field monitoring, and quality‑improvement activities.
• Review district work plans, budgets, and reports for accuracy, compliance, and cost‑effective resource use.
• Identify capacity gaps, develop mentoring and coaching plans, and facilitate peer‑learning forums.
• Represent the project in national and sub‑national coordination forums and strengthen collaboration with District Health Offices, the Ministry of Health, and implementing partners.
• Ensure timely submission of high‑quality district reports and alignment with other donors and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience managing MNCH, nutrition, and HIV programs in low‑resource settings.
• Proven leadership and supervisory skills, including mentoring district‑level staff.
• Strong ability to translate strategic objectives into operational plans and monitor implementation.
• Experience working with Ministry of Health structures, donors, and multi‑partner coordination mechanisms.
• Demonstrated competence in quality‑improvement approaches and performance monitoring.
