Temporary Research Assistant – Public Health Study

About the role

The Research Assistant will support data collection for a public‑health study conducted by Partners In Health/Abwenzi Pa Za Umoyo in Malawi. Working under the Research Officer and the Principal Investigator, the role offers a monthly stipend and hands‑on experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Key responsibilities

• Collect quantitative data using surveys, experiments and data‑scraping techniques.
• Conduct in‑depth interviews, key‑informant interviews, focus group discussions and observations.
• Ensure data accuracy and completeness through rigorous quality‑control checks.
• Assist in basic analysis and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data, including summary statistics, thematic coding and simple statistical tests.
• Prepare clear reports, summaries and visualisations of collected data.
• Stay updated on data‑collection methodologies and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in statistics, social sciences, public health or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and management.
• Experience transcribing qualitative data.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.
