HVAC/Electrical Technician – Facility Maintenance

About the role

The HVAC/Electrical Technician supports the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, refrigeration and electrical systems across health‑care facilities, staff housing and related infrastructure. The role ensures reliable, safe and uninterrupted environmental and power control to enable quality health‑care delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, install, test, commission and maintain HVAC and electrical systems in hospitals, health centres, offices, warehouses and staff housing.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on air conditioners, refrigerators, cold rooms, ventilation equipment, generators and power‑backup systems.
• Conduct routine inspections, identify faults and implement timely corrective actions to minimise disruptions.
• Carry out electrical installations including wiring, conduits, switches, sockets, lighting, distribution boards and related accessories.
• Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders and track maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Officer, Infrastructure Manager, biomedical technicians and external contractors.

Required profile

• Full‑time position (40 hours per week).
• Reports to the Maintenance Officer with second‑line reporting to the Infrastructure Manager.

Required skills

• HVAC system installation, testing and maintenance.
• Refrigeration and cold‑room equipment servicing.
• Generator and power‑backup system maintenance.
• Electrical wiring, conduit work, switches, sockets and lighting installation.
• Distribution board setup and maintenance.
• Troubleshooting of HVAC and electrical faults.
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
