Project Officer – MEAL & Advocacy (Power Nutrition Project)

About the role

Save the Children is looking for a dynamic Project Officer to lead Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL) and advocacy activities for the Power of Nutrition Project in Malawi. The role will ensure robust data systems, evidence generation, and effective advocacy to improve nutrition and early childhood development outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in MEAL and advocacy for the project.
• Design, implement, and manage project monitoring systems and databases.
• Support evidence generation, learning events, and timely reporting to donors and the organization.
• Strengthen community accountability mechanisms, advocacy initiatives, and knowledge‑management systems.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager, District Coordinators, and Regional MEAL team to ensure quality implementation and evidence‑based decision making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in MEAL roles.
• Experience developing and managing databases using MS Access, Excel and CSPro.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis packages such as STATA and SPSS.
• Strong experience in developing M&E plans, results frameworks, research protocols and conducting evaluations.
• Knowledge of gender and equity analyses.
• Proven experience supervising, coaching and mentoring staff.
• Excellent communication, report writing and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail, organisational and analytical abilities.
• Politically and culturally sensitive with patience, tact and diplomacy.
• Commitment to Save the Children’s values and child safeguarding principles.
