Project Director – Every Child Belongs Initiative

About the role

The Project Director will lead World Vision’s flagship disability inclusion programme – Every Child Belongs – in Malawi. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines strategic, technical, operational and financial oversight to improve the well‑being and inclusion of children with disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic direction and manage implementation of the five‑year programme and long‑term scale‑up vision.
• Ensure alignment with World Vision’s global priorities in disability inclusion, child protection, health, education, faith, development and systems strengthening.
• Champion a child‑first, dignity‑centered approach across all activities and promote innovation, learning and evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Oversee programme quality, technical excellence, safeguarding, inclusion and protection standards.
• Lead programme monitoring, quality assurance systems and quarterly national reflection meetings.
• Supervise the Program Manager, Technical Advisors, M&E team and Systems Strengthening team; collaborate with resource mobilisation, communications and global technical support.
• Build and lead a high‑performing multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading large‑scale development or humanitarian programmes.
• Strong background in disability inclusion, child protection, inclusive education or related sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and complex stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent strategic thinking, analytical and financial management skills.
• Commitment to World Vision’s Christian values and a child‑first approach.
