Construction Engineering Consultant – Long Term Agreement (2 yrs) – Remote (Lilongwe)

About the role

UNICEF Malawi seeks an experienced Construction Engineering Consultant on a two‑year Long Term Agreement to provide on‑demand technical support for its infrastructure programme. The role is remote, open to Malawian nationals, and focuses on schools, health facilities and community institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide design support, technical review, validation and engineering oversight for institutional facilities.
• Evaluate proposed designs and feasibility studies submitted by implementing partners and third‑party contractors.
• Ensure all infrastructure complies with national guidelines, international best practices and UNICEF’s sustainability, safety, equity and climate‑resilience standards.
• Prepare technical monitoring reports for remote rural construction projects, aligning with UNICEF construction guidelines.
• Offer advisory services and capacity‑building to government authorities, NGOs and other local stakeholders on technical aspects of infrastructure.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s level or higher) in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Open to Malawian nationals only.
