Stores Officer

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking a Stores Officer to manage its stores operations. The role involves handling, recording, and issuing materials while ensuring accuracy and compliance with university procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Control stores operations, including receiving, locating and issuing materials.
• Check incoming supplies against invoices, requisitions, orders and specifications.
• Maintain stock in bins, racks and work areas in a neat, safe and sanitary condition.
• Keep detailed records of stock on hand, on order and used in previous periods.
• Ensure physical inventory matches accounting records through cyclical or ad‑hoc stock checks.
• Coordinate with the Fixed Asset Accountant and Procurement Officer on newly acquired assets.
• Produce inventory schedules for audit purposes and reconcile inventory clearing accounts.
• Reconcile suppliers' pre‑payment accounts.

Required profile

• CIPS Diploma from a recognised institution.
• Relevant experience in computerized accounting.
• Basic accounting knowledge is an advantage.
• Experience with ACCPAC financial modules preferred.
