Shipboard Laundry Manager

About the role

The Shipboard Laundry Manager oversees the daily operation of the laundry facility on a cruise vessel, ensuring that all linen, uniforms, and guest items are cleaned to the highest standards. Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, this role combines technical expertise with strong coordination across multiple ship departments.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily laundry operations, including washing, ironing, dry‑cleaning, and storage of all items.
• Ensure all laundry equipment is fully operational; coordinate repairs and maintenance with the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.
• Inspect dryers and machines daily, maintain temperature and lint‑free conditions, and submit inspection reports.
• Coordinate sorting, washing schedules, and timely distribution of linen to staterooms, crew cabins, F&B areas, spa, pool, and cruise‑theater departments.
• Manage chemical supplies, monitor budget limits, and place requisitions for laundry chemicals.
• Liaise with Ecolab representatives to calibrate machines and set appropriate wash formulas.
• Handle guest‑related laundry issues and ensure quality control at each stage of the process.

Required profile

• Technical proficiency with commercial laundry equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions and apply common sense in problem‑solving.
• Strong judgment for corrective actions and quality assurance.
• Experience working in a hospitality or cruise‑ship environment is preferred.
