Nutrition Specialist (Fixed‑term) – Lilongwe, Malawi

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a dynamic Nutrition Specialist to strengthen national nutrition systems in Malawi. Working under the Chief, Nutrition, you will drive multisectoral coordination, improve data systems, and support evidence‑based nutrition interventions for children, adolescents, and women.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate linkages across key sectors to promote integrated nutrition actions and represent UNICEF priorities on coordination platforms.
• Support the digitalisation and strengthening of nutrition information systems to enhance data quality, availability, and use for decision‑making.
• Contribute to annual project assessments, monitoring processes, and high‑quality programme reporting.
• Provide technical assistance to improve nutrition governance, policy alignment, and update relevant guidelines and frameworks.
• Generate and manage nutrition evidence, documenting lessons learned and best practices for policy and programme improvement.

Required profile

• Open to Malawian nationals only.
• Demonstrated experience in nutrition programme implementation and coordination.
• Strong understanding of national nutrition systems, multisectoral collaboration, and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Ability to work effectively with government, partners, and UNICEF teams.
