Nurse/Midwife Technician (Tenured) - 2 Positions

About the role

The University of Malawi is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill two tenured positions of Nurse/Midwife Technician. The post is based at the University of Malawi and involves clinical nursing and midwifery duties.

Key responsibilities

• Take vital signs
• Administer and monitor medications
• Provide nursing care to clients, including counselling patients and their guardians
• Facilitate the introduction of staff and students' medical schemes
• Implement community outreach programmes
• Organise and run training programmes on health-related matters
• Maintain client and patient data, including drugs and supplies
• Recommend reordering and disposal of drugs and medical supplies

Required profile

• Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from a recognised institution
• At least five years of continuous post-registration and post-qualification work experience in a busy clinic or hospital
• Fulfilled continuing professional development (CPD) for 2026-2027
• Certified by the registration body, as an STI management provider, ART/TB management provider, Youth Friendly Health Services provider, Cervical Cancer Screening provider and member of the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi
• Experience in a higher education clinic facility is an added advantage
