National Director

About the role

The National Director leads Compassion International’s mission in the assigned country, serving as the primary external representative, strategic program leader, and spiritual guide. This senior position is accountable for the overall performance, integrity, and impact of the organization within the geographical area.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the legal and public representative of Compassion International to government bodies, donors, partners and suppliers.
• Provide spiritual leadership, maintaining a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and modeling Christ‑like behavior.
• Advocate for child protection, ensuring compliance with Compassion’s Code of Conduct and reporting any concerns.
• Develop and execute a growth and opportunity strategy aligned with global program objectives.
• Build and nurture partnerships with Frontline Church Partners, affiliate churches and other stakeholders.
• Communicate a compelling vision, manage staff performance, and foster cross‑functional collaboration.
• Support marketing initiatives and sponsor/donor engagement to expand impact.
• Oversee the ethical and effective operation of the ministry in collaboration with local boards where applicable.

Required profile

• Demonstrated personal commitment to Christian faith and ability to serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
• Strong advocacy for children’s well‑being and adherence to child protection policies.
• Proven leadership experience in a non‑profit or mission‑driven environment.
• Excellent relational and communication skills for engaging government, donors and church partners.
• Ability to translate strategic vision into operational results.
