Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Officer

About the role

Save the Children is looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer to join the Balaka District Education Office. The officer will support the Save the Children–Balaka District Council project by ensuring that activities are tracked, evaluated and continuously improved through robust data systems and accountability mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor project activities and outputs against work plans, develop indicators and tools, and ensure timely, accurate data collection.
• Conduct baseline, midline and end‑line assessments, measure impact and report on progress toward objectives.
• Establish and manage feedback and complaint mechanisms, analyse community feedback and ensure transparency to beneficiaries.
• Analyse project data, document lessons learned and share findings to promote evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Maintain data quality, confidentiality and storage; prepare reports, dashboards and analytical summaries for donors and management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Development Studies, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum four years of experience in a MEAL or similar monitoring and evaluation role.
• Strong analytical, data interpretation and reporting abilities.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and compliance with safeguarding and child protection standards.
