Finance & Budget Associate (G-6) – Fixed Term

About the role

The Finance & Budget Associate will support UNICEF Malawi in managing its financial resources efficiently and transparently. Reporting to the Budget Officer, the incumbent will provide accurate analysis, reporting, and monitoring to enable risk‑informed decisions and improve organisational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, monitoring and reporting of programme and operations budgets.
• Maintain reliable financial data and support analysis to identify issues and opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, internal controls and UNICEF financial policies.
• Prepare financial reports, variance analyses and budget follow‑up documents.
• Collaborate with programme and operations teams to improve financial stewardship and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Secondary education required; higher education or professional courses in finance, accounting or budgeting highly desirable.
• Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience in financial management, budget management, financial analysis, grant management, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, funds management or donor compliance.
• Strong knowledge of programme and operations budget management and financial accounting principles.
