Finance & Budget Associate (G-6) – Fixed Term

About the role

The Finance & Budget Associate will support UNICEF Malawi’s financial stewardship by ensuring accurate budgeting, reporting and compliance with donor and organisational policies. Working under the supervision of the Budget Officer, the incumbent will provide data‑driven analysis to aid risk‑informed decision‑making and improve operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, monitoring and reporting of programme and operations budgets.
• Maintain reliable financial data, perform variance analysis and identify issues or opportunities.
• Support grant management, payroll administration, accounts payable/receivable and fund‑management processes.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, donor requirements and UNICEF financial policies.
• Collaborate with programme and operations teams to provide timely financial information.

Required profile

• Secondary education required; university or professional courses in finance, accounting or budgeting highly desirable.
• Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience in financial management, budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, grant management or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work accurately, meet deadlines and communicate financial information clearly.
