Construction Engineering Consultant – 2-year LTA – Remote (Lilongwe)

About the role

UNICEF Malawi is seeking a Construction Engineering Consultant on a two‑year Long‑Term Agreement to provide on‑demand technical support for its infrastructure programme. The role is remote‑based, open to Malawian nationals, and focuses on schools, health facilities and community institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide design support, technical review, validation and engineering oversight for institutional facilities.
• Evaluate proposed designs and feasibility studies submitted by implementing partners and contractors.
• Ensure all infrastructure complies with national guidelines, international best practices and UNICEF’s sustainability, safety, equity and climate‑resilience standards.
• Prepare and submit technical monitoring reports for remote rural construction projects.
• Deliver advisory and capacity‑building services to government authorities, NGOs and other local stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s level or higher) in Civil, Hydraulic, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering.
• Open to Malawian nationals only.
