Climate Change Technical Advisor – GCF Project (3 months)

About the role

Save the Children is looking for an experienced Climate Change Technical Advisor to lead the implementation of climate‑resilient health interventions under a Green Climate Fund (GCF) initiative. This three‑month contract will provide high‑level technical guidance to strengthen climate adaptation within health systems across national and district levels.

Key responsibilities

• Provide rapid technical review and validation of ongoing climate‑health activities.
• Develop and refine climate‑resilient health frameworks, tools, guidelines and SOPs.
• Establish technical tracking systems and quality‑assurance mechanisms.
• Mentor and build capacity of local technical assistants through structured learning‑by‑doing.
• Collaborate closely with government counterparts, technical advisors and programme teams to integrate climate resilience into planning and implementation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Climate Science or related field (Bachelor’s acceptable with extensive experience).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in climate‑change programming within an international NGO.
• Proven experience designing and scaling climate‑resilient programmes.
• Demonstrated capacity‑building and technical mentoring experience.
• Strong understanding of Early Warning and Response Systems (EWRS) and the climate‑health nexus.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Experience working with government systems and willingness to travel to remote field locations.
