Banquet Manager

About the role

The Banquet Manager leads the banquet team at Protea Hotel by Marriott Lilongwe, ensuring every event meets the highest standards of service, quality, and profitability. This full‑time position combines hands‑on service with strategic oversight of financial and administrative responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and motivate the banquet team while personally assisting with high‑quality service delivery.
• Manage banquet operations, including supply procurement, inventory control, and beverage cost management.
• Schedule and forecast staffing levels to meet service standards and maximize profit.
• Lead monthly department meetings, set goals, and delegate tasks to improve performance.
• Act as liaison between banquet staff and kitchen, ensuring seamless event execution.
• Handle guest feedback, resolve complaints, and drive continuous improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Enforce safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures, and provide staff training on these protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in event management, food & beverage, or a related hospitality role.
• Strong communication skills and ability to motivate a diverse team.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, inventories, and staffing schedules.
