Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

Wave is expanding its finance function in Malawi and seeks an Assistant Financial Controller to support the rapid scaling of its operations. Based in Lilongwe, you will work closely with senior finance leaders and product teams to ensure robust financial management and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Finance unit to external stakeholders and monitor company financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with financial, legal and regulatory requirements by interpreting legislation and advising on necessary actions.
• Maintain accounting controls, develop policies and procedures, and oversee the external auditor relationship.
• Lead the Finance team by recruiting, training, mentoring and developing staff.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to design new products that meet accounting and tax standards.
• Promote Wave’s values within the team and embed them in daily operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.
