Art Studio Attendant

About the role

The University of Malawi is looking for an Art Studio Attendant to support the daily operations of its art, ceramics and pottery studios. The role ensures a clean, organized environment, manages materials and assists students and staff with studio activities.

Key responsibilities

• General cleaning and organization of the ceramic and art studios, including storage and display of artworks.
• Collect, store and manage waste clay, feldspar, silica sand and other raw materials.
• Maintain studio hygiene and security of all studio products and spaces.
• Control student work schedules and support raw material production under supervision.
• Assist in making moulds, operating carving tools, producing vases and other decorative items.
• Transport items to and from kilns for firing and arrange artworks for exhibitions.

Required profile

• Experience in art, ceramics or pottery industries, preferably in galleries or studios.
• Minimum Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE); additional training in painting, drawing, sculpture or ceramics is an advantage.
• Knowledge of paints, crafts, pottery products, potter’s wheel, electric kilns and raw material processing.
