Part‑Time Recreation Leader (Childcare Center)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Recreation Leader 2 to join our childcare centre on a part‑time basis. You will support a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, help maintain a safe and engaging environment, and mentor junior staff while working afternoon shifts Monday through Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Site Supervisor and senior staff with planning and delivering recreation programs, including games, arts‑and‑crafts, dancing and drama.
• Supervise children during play, field trips and special events, ensuring discipline and safety.
• Maintain daily attendance records and perform light‑cleaning duties such as vacuuming and wiping surfaces.
• Provide basic first‑aid for minor injuries and follow safety protocols.
• Help set up and move equipment, and support the training of Recreation Leader 1 staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (required at time of hire).
• At least one year of related childcare or recreation experience.
• Strong communication skills – able to read, write and present information to children, parents and colleagues.
• Availability to work a minimum of 3.8 hours per day, Monday‑Friday afternoons.

Required skills

• Basic first‑aid knowledge.
• Ability to follow written instructions and maintain accurate records.
