Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist – Fixed Term

About the role

UNICEF Malawi is looking for a dynamic Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist to provide technical leadership and support the results‑based management of its programmes. Reporting to the Chief of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME), you will help design, implement and strengthen the country‑wide M&E framework.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the Monitoring & Evaluation framework in line with UNICEF and national standards.
• Ensure robust monitoring systems for high‑quality data collection, validation and analysis across programme sectors.
• Analyse data and contribute to corporate and donor reports that inform evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Plan, commission and utilise evaluations to improve programme performance and learning.
• Collaborate with government agencies and partners to strengthen national data and monitoring systems.
• Build capacity of staff and partners in M&E methods, data use and results‑based management.

Required profile

• Professional experience in monitoring and evaluation within international development or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong knowledge of UNICEF and national M&E standards and results‑based management.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse data, produce high‑quality reports and support evidence‑based decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
