Human Resources Manager

About the role

GiveDirectly Malawi is expanding its impact and needs a seasoned Human Resources Manager to partner with the Country Director. You will shape people strategy, ensure compliance with Malawi labour law, and build HR systems that support rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a strategic thought partner to the Country Director on organisational design, workforce planning and people‑related risk.
• Own the full recruitment cycle: define role requirements, craft job descriptions, manage sourcing, interviewing and onboarding.
• Design, implement and continuously improve HR processes for onboarding, performance management, staff development and compensation.
• Run payroll and compensation administration accurately and on time.
• Ensure all HR practices are compliant with local labour regulations and aligned with GiveDirectly’s values.
• Safeguard organisational culture by supporting leadership in upholding standards and fostering a supportive work environment.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of Malawi labour law and HR best practices.
• Hands‑on experience across the entire HR lifecycle, from recruitment to payroll.
• Strong interpersonal and judgement skills for navigating people and organisational challenges.
• Commitment to building an inclusive, high‑ownership workplace.
