Head of Marketing and Communications

About the role

The University of Malawi is recruiting a Head of Marketing and Communications (UM 6) to develop, review and oversee the university's marketing, communication and public relations strategies, plans, procedures and budget so that they fit the university's overall corporate strategy and deliver its brand promise. The post is advertised as open.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and oversee the implementation of marketing, communication and public relations strategies, annual plans, procedures and budget aligned with the university's corporate strategy.
• Manage marketing research and identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share.
• Coordinate market needs assessment studies with the registry, schools and other business units.
• Identify potential programmes, products and services to be launched and work with the registry, schools and business units to establish their technical and financial viability.
• Lead the development and implementation of launch plans for programmes, products and services, and periodically review their performance to recommend corrective action.
• Lead the development of value-adding social responsibility programmes and oversee their implementation.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Corporate and Marketing Communication, Marketing Communications, Marketing Communication and Public Relations, or Global Marketing and Communications.
• 5 years of work experience at a senior officer level, preferably within the higher education industry.
