Facility Maintenance Coordinator

About the role

The Facility Maintenance Coordinator ensures that all hospital buildings, water and wastewater systems, furniture, fixtures, equipment and related non‑medical assets remain safe, functional and well‑maintained. Working closely with the Facility Manager/Director, the coordinator supports day‑to‑day maintenance operations and helps drive infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Implement maintenance objectives set by the Facility Manager/Director.
• Assist in planning, developing and executing construction and renovation projects.
• Maintain and audit the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), providing user training and annual data verification.
• Act as internal auditor for work performed by external contractors.
• Prepare documentation for internal projects, including bills of quantities, project plans, inspection and hand‑over reports.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with hospital departments to minimise disruption.
• Monitor inventory of tools, supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) for the maintenance team.
• Supervise casual staff on internal building projects and ensure compliance with hospital employment policies.
• Perform hands‑on maintenance across building structures, water and electrical systems, and FFE (furniture, fixtures & equipment).

Required profile

• Experience in facility or building maintenance, preferably in a healthcare environment.
• Ability to lead and train maintenance personnel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation.
• Commitment to safety standards and proper use of PPE.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and project documentation.
• Inventory management for tools, supplies and PPE.
• Basic knowledge of building systems (water, wastewater, electrical, HVAC).
