Education Specialist (P-3) – Fixed Term – Lilongwe, Malawi

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Education Specialist (P-3) on a fixed‑term basis to lead strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of education programmes that improve quality and access for children and adolescents in Malawi.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team to design, implement and report on initiatives that enhance school readiness, foundational learning and alternative learning pathways.
• Coordinate with government, development partners and civil society to mobilise resources and align programmes with national education policies.
• Conduct policy dialogue, evidence‑based advocacy and high‑level stakeholder engagement.
• Support evidence generation, innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building activities.
• Ensure programme quality, reach and efficiency through proactive coordination and results‑driven management.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Education, Economics, Psychology, Sociology or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in education programme management, monitoring & evaluation, policy development, partnership management or related areas.
• Demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable populations and in emergency contexts.
