About the role
The Country Director will lead Irish Rule of Law International’s (IRLI) operations in Malawi, reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Director of Programmes. Based in Lilongwe, the role ensures the effective management, coordination and delivery of IRLI’s justice‑focused programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, implementation and monitoring of all IRLI programmes in Malawi.
- Coordinate with local partners, civil‑society organisations and government stakeholders to align activities with community priorities.
- Manage the Malawi office team, providing leadership, supervision and capacity‑building.
- Ensure compliance with IRLI’s strategic plan, donor requirements and financial controls.
- Represent IRLI in national and regional forums on rule‑of‑law and human‑rights issues.
Required profile
- Proven senior‑level experience in programme management within the justice, human‑rights or development sector.
- Strong understanding of rule‑of‑law, democracy and sustainable development contexts in Africa.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with local organisations and government bodies.
- Excellent leadership, communication and strategic thinking skills.
