Audit Manager

About the role

EY Malawi is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join its External Audit team. The role involves leading audit engagements for clients across the Malawi market, ensuring compliance with EY methodology, International Financial Reporting Standards and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution and reporting of external audit engagements, maintaining high quality and regulatory compliance.
• Manage audit fieldwork at client sites, coordinating with engagement teams, clients and other EY service lines.
• Evaluate audit risk, accounting technical matters and key judgement areas, providing guidance and escalating issues as needed.
• Review audit work prepared by team members, ensuring proper documentation, evidence and quality standards before sign‑off.
• Identify improvement opportunities in clients’ processes, controls and financial reporting and prepare value‑adding management letter recommendations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to connect clients with relevant EY services.

Required profile

• Experienced audit professional with a track record of leading audit engagements.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and mentor junior staff.
• Strong judgment and problem‑solving skills in audit and assurance contexts.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Understanding of International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and EY audit methodology.
• Experience with audit quality, risk management and compliance procedures.
