Senior Ports and Shipping Specialist (Non-Key Expert)

About the role

NTU International A/S is seeking a Senior Ports and Shipping Specialist to join its Global Gateway Transport and Urban Facility 2 project. The expert will provide technical, policy and investment support for maritime, port and inland waterways initiatives across Sub‑Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia‑Pacific.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prepare and implement maritime, port and inland‑waterways infrastructure projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses.
• Support port and logistics master‑planning, multimodal connectivity and integration.
• Advise on port infrastructure development, maritime transport services and inland‑waterways systems.
• Assist with procurement, tendering, implementation supervision, operation and maintenance planning.
• Promote sustainable maritime transport, port decarbonisation, energy efficiency, electrification, shore‑side electricity and renewable fuels.
• Integrate green port infrastructure, circular‑economy approaches and climate‑resilience measures.
• Contribute to policy, regulatory and institutional reforms and build capacity of public and port authorities.
• Coordinate stakeholders including IFIs, development partners and contractors.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in maritime engineering, maritime sciences, port engineering or transport.
• Extensive experience in maritime and inland‑waterways sectors, preferably in international development contexts.
• Proven track record in feasibility studies, project design and investment analysis.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable port practices, decarbonisation and climate‑resilience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
