Project/Grant Accountant (Field Only)

About the role

CRS is seeking a Project/Grant Accountant to support the financial management of an anticipated multi‑country child development, care and protection grant. The role will ensure compliance with CRS accounting standards, GAAP, donor requirements and legal regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Set and monitor accounting and financial reporting procedures for grant sub‑recipients and partners.
• Maintain and process financial transactions for assigned grant accounts in the Oracle financial accounting system.
• Review and validate supporting documentation before posting transactions.
• Record financial transactions with appropriate authorizations and detect irregularities.
• Advise on corrective actions and prepare adjusting entries as needed.
• Assess and monitor sub‑recipient financial management processes and build their capacity.
• Monitor disbursement and receipt schedules, alert grant staff of due payments and ensure timely resource management.
• Prepare periodic and ad‑hoc financial reports, perform variance analysis and assist with budget maintenance.
• Provide guidance on accounting policies, procedural compliance and deliver training to partners.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in grant accounting and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with GAAP and donor compliance requirements.
• Ability to work closely with project teams and sub‑recipients.
• Strong analytical skills for variance analysis and financial monitoring.
