Project Manager – Forestry & Agroforestry Projects

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the operational delivery of the MoRe Malawi initiative, a 40‑year forest restoration and sustainable development programme. Reporting to senior leadership, you will translate strategy and technical designs into safe, on‑time, on‑budget field execution across forestry, agroforestry, nursery and nature‑based solutions activities.

Key responsibilities

• Direct day‑to‑day implementation of large‑scale forestry, agroforestry, restoration, planting and assisted natural regeneration works.
• Ensure compliance with scope, schedule, budget, quality and KPI targets.
• Coordinate field teams, contractors, logistics, equipment and infrastructure.
• Align field activities with carbon methodologies, MRV and verification processes.
• Collaborate with Carbon/Science, GIS, Community, Planning, SHEQ, Finance and Procurement functions.
• Manage operational risks, deviations and corrective actions.
• Maintain relationships with government authorities, local communities and key stakeholders.
• Uphold SHEQ, environmental, social and corporate standards while integrating sustainability principles.

Required profile

• Degree in Forestry, Agronomy, Agroforestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Proven track record in field operations and team leadership.
• Hands‑on experience with carbon projects under Verra/VCS or similar standards.
• Strong planning, budgeting and people‑management capabilities.
• Experience in Sub‑Saharan Africa is highly desirable.
• Fluent English and a valid driving licence.
